Art Director for Videogames
- The Art Director for Videogames oversees the visual direction for a game.
- The Art Director will establish and define the quality level of in-game art, and aid with miscellaneous administrative
duties and project decisions.
- They will communicate the vision to other artists
- They will ensure consistency amongst the aesthetic aspects of the art content.
- They establish an appropriate and consistent visual and conceptual style, working with the Creative Director to ensure adherence to the creative vision of the game. Making sure the game design needs are being met.
- Prioritizing and defining art tasks; maintaining the look and feel of all the art within the game.
- Work with the Software department and Technical Artists to define technical limitations and guidelines, and work with the Lead Artist to communicate them to the team.
- Help identify and evaluate global needs for the art department.
- Actively Research & Develop software, techniques and workflow solutions with Art Leads and Tech Leads.
- Must have strong experience and understanding with 2D and 3D art (including modeling, texturing, and concept art).
- Solid proficiency in Photoshop.
- Solid experience with a 3D package (preferably Maya).
- Experience in creating new intellectual property at every level; such as from concept visual exploration to setting a finished art direction for all content of the property.
- Overall ability to design a broad range of original concepts; from characters, interiors and exterior environments, to objects and vehicles.
- Solid eye in detail and consistency is important.
- Practical art skills and a good understanding of the fundamentals of art and design are essential.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and visual. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively is important.
- Overall, the candidate must be able to lead a team and work effectively within that team.
