i-cg-3d-lighting-challenges-jeremy-birnPractice Digital Lighting with Jeremy Birn‘s Lighting Challenges which reached the 19th round on CG Society Forums.

Any user can download the 3D scene available for most popular formats (as: 3DS Max, LightWave, Maya, Houdini, Modo, XSI, Blender, Cinema 4D and the neutral OBJ) and try themselves in choosing a visual mood to be reproduced with their own preferred 3D package.

In a dedicated forum thread each participant submit their work in progress images until the Master and Moderator declare the end of the session and select a gallery of the best images rendered. Since this is not a competition but just another way to learn and share there is not an actually due date to participate since anybody can join any of the past challenges at any time.

Thanks to Jeremy Birn, Lighting Artist at Pixar Animation Studios, author of the Bible of Digital Lighting togheter with a DVD, students and professional CG Artists can sharp their lighting skills in a very rich and useful learning tool.
