“Roma”. For Istituto Luce.  From 1997 to 2006.
Carlo works form 9 to 6 at “La Storia di Leo” (3D animated film) and afterwards in RAI for some scientific TV programs

Francesco Cestra, Carlo’s father, thanks to his long time passion for historical re-constructions of war sea-vehicles, he researched independently the facts about the “Corazzata Roma” incident becoming one of the most important expert in the field, if not the unique. Francesco becomes the main source of inspiration for Carlo’s new ambition: creating digital re-constructions of historical events.

1995 – Francesco Cestra creates a scale model, about 3 meters, of the “Roma” ship.

1997 – Carlo, for the pleasure of it, creates a digital 3D model of the ship during free time.

2000 – Now is the time of a 3D animated video: the event is the Germans’ attack to the “Roma” ship and of it’s sinking. His father can’t believe his eyes by watching at the CGI reproduction. The short documentary is the joy of close friends and relatives. This gives Carlo the motivation to go further and during next years he will refine and add detail to the work. In 2005, Cestra Junior produces a new 3D animated sequence, 10 minutes of higher quality. He decides to show it to Istituto Luce, an old cultural institution with some of the most important documentaries of Italian recent history. Istituto luce decides to buy the rights of Carlo’s film and produces and publishes it in “Adone del Cima e la Corazzata Roma”
