Thanks to the quality and the professionalism of Carlo’s work he gets contacted by two of the most popular Italian authors of educational programmes: Piero Angela and Alberto Angela, who ask Mr Cestrum to create several 3D reconstructions and simulations for the popular show “Passaggio a Nord Ovest”. The Colosseum, Castel Sant’Angelo and the Mausoleo of Adriano are some of the challenging project faced during that time.
The red line which bounds Carlo to RAI survives the years and he becomes a collaborator as a free-lancer. Carlo becomes responsible for the live graphics during the most popular TV shows in Italy as: Miss Universo, Telethon or the Festival di Sanremo.

During these long extenuating sessions of work which consisted in rehearsals and live broadcasts, Carlo begins to think to the audiovisuals as something he wants to produce and to ideate. Not just something where he has to press buttons for somebody.
In year 2002 the life of your humble writer, Massimo Curatella, and Carlo’s cross in a beautiful Villa in Frascati, The “Roman Castles” just near Rome. I was invited to speak at a Newtek conference and there I shown some slides about an animation studio just formed which was involved in the creation of the first Italian 3D animated feature film “L’Apetta Giulia e la Signora Vita”.
He dropped his work and by contacting Digitrace, the studios presented, he gets a position as a Technical Director first and then as the Senior Supervisor of Compositing, Rendering and Visual Effects.
So we reach nowadays, when, in 2007 Carlo supervise the production of “Winx, The Movie”, maybe the biggest Italian 3D animation production.
But this is just a half of the story.
